Coakley Middle School derives its name from Mary Ellen Coakley, a philanthropist who generously donated approximately 19.33 acres of land in 1962 for the establishment of the school, reflecting her profound commitment to youth education.
Born on August 7, 1884, in Butler County, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Coakley was a trailblazer, recognized as one of the first female real estate agents in our area. Even after her passing on May 2, 1978, her unwavering commitment to education and the advancement of our youth remains a guiding light.
